During the fitting process, make sure there is 3/8″ to 1/2″ space between your longest toe (which may not be your ‘big’ toe) and the end of each shoe when you are standing up.
How much room should I have at the front of my running shoes?
Is it normal for my shoe size to change from brand to brand?
Yes. Try on the shoe. Don’t select shoes by the size marked inside the shoe but by how the shoe fits your foot.
At what age does my kid need cleats?
Cleats are not necessary and not effective for kids who weigh less than 100 pounds. They are probably not seating the cleat into the ground with every step—especially if the ground is hard or rocky. The cleat barely digs into the turf. And these kids are not ‘cutting’ hard enough to need the traction of cleats anyway. They would actually have more traction with a turf shoe. Plus, the turf shoe is more flexible, so it better matches the biomechanics of their young feet.
How often should I replace my running shoes?
A good rule of thumb is to replace your running shoes every 300 to 400 miles, depending on your running style, body weight, and the surface on which you run. Lighter runners can run longer between replacements, while heavier runners should consider replacement shoes closer to the 300 mile mark. If you run on rough roads, you’ll need to replace your running shoes sooner than if you primarily run on a treadmill.
